Time for some mid month inspiration for Christmas At Sweet Stampin'

A wee reminder that this month our theme is

And here we go. I just love WOW cards, I was always afraid of them but I actually love them now!

Recovered?

Hello. Hope everyone is well. I am pleased to report that, at last, I seem to be feeling human again! It's been a while.

And speaking of things that have been a while, this is a commissioned card I made for a friend for another friend's son's birthday - in September! This isn't the oldest card I have to share, I'm sure there's one in my folder from April. I'll get to it though ;) This is almost the same as a card I did earlier on in the year but I didn't add the wee tag sentiments (in Cartha colours) down the side or try and fashion a rugby ball from an oval punch!

Birthdays, Birthdays and Christmas

Morning all, it's Saturday and that means it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin'.

This week our theme is

Cause for Celebration

Now the more observant of you will note that this is not a Team Fi week but it's Sweet Stampin's 4th birthday so some of us from Team Fi are joining in with the celebrations.

Our sponsors this week are Bunny Zoe, Crafters Companion and Wild Orchid Crafts who are all offering £10 vouchers to the winners. Our monthly sponsor is The Ribbon Girl who are offering a £10 voucher to the monthly winner.

Now I was going to be really clever and not do a Christmas or a birthday card but I've ended up with a Christmas card. I have seen loads of the chalkboard effect on Pinterest recently and wanted to give it a try. This is Weathered White Embossing Powder but I think I'd like to try a brighter white one.

Brrrrr......

Morning from a very cold Glasgow. Do you have snow? We don't, although I have seen other folk in other parts of Glasgow have some!

You'll be pleased to know that I *think* (don't want to speak too soon) that this bug is finally on it's way out. The gunge appears to have gone (sorry tmi) and my hearing appears to be on it's way back. Thank goodness for that.

So to today's card - another from the decluttering folder. It's a new home card I was asked to make - there seems to have been a spate of these and I've been trying to do something different every time so with this one I've made a wee cluster of houses by masking them and made the feature one in the cardstock I used for matting.

Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Morning all, it's Saturday and that means it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin'.

This week our theme is

Tags
(make one or use one on your card)

Our sponsor this week is The Stamp Fairy and our monthly sponsor is The Ribbon Girl who are offering a £10 voucher to the monthly winner.

The Stamp Fairy kindly provided the DT a couple of images for the DT to use. I've used a snowman for my card.

Now when I got the image I said that if a snowman was standing next to a mug of something hot he would melt..... then Sandra came up with the sentiment!

I'm quite pleased with the tag. I bought it at the SECC at the end of October and the sentiment was computer generated and printed on Safmat so that it could be added to the wooden tag. Clever eh?!

The Pancake Batter Anomaly

Morning.

I am still alive, honest. Although to be honest, it doesn't really feel like it right now. STILL suffering from this cold/sinus infection. This is my last day of antibiotics and I think the most I can say is that I feel slightly less crap than I did this time last week :/ but if we could get Sheldon to sing Soft Kitty I think I'd feel so much better. Maybe.

So, in my continuing mission to share all the cards that have been in the folder for months this is the thank you card I made for one of Scott's teachers last year.  I will share all these cards by the end of the year.... if it ends in more than 78 days.... #oops #fail

For The Fallen

For The Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Laurence Binyon
