Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Well what a busy week I've had! I will not bore you with the details though.

Craig wanted to see the Olympic torch in Glasgow last night so Andy went to pick the boys up early from after school and brought them into the city centre. While he was picking them up someone offered them 3 tickets to the event being held in George Square so although I met up with them they left me as they had to be in the Square by 5.45pm. I didn't want to go home without seeing the torch so I went for a coffee but then a friend also came in with her son who is Craig's pal and I met up with the two of them. We stood for ages in Buchanan Street waiting but were rewarded with a sight of the gorgeous James McAvoy carrying the torch! I'm so glad Sharon actually had her camera with her!!

And so very early today the lovely Cass and I set off for Perth for the final Girls Just Want to Have Fun day.

There were 3 workshops in all run by Debbi, Kath and Anne.

This is Debbi's project - a fabby altered notebook.

This is Anne's project. Instead of using material we used napkins. You will notice that I tried very hard not to use all the pink bits of the napkin.... Poor Anne, she even had to get out the Soft Suede ink pad so I could use that instead of the pink!

And finally this Kath's project. So lovely and is now hanging up in my living room. Although it's not in a permanent slot but I just wanted to display it.

I'm thinking that this or the notebook would make great gifts for the boys' teachers. I may have to work incredibly hard between now and the end of June though.

We had a fantastic day, lots of fun and laughs and lots of work!  The only trouble is, I now have a very long shopping list!!

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday. We're flitting between watching the football and It's A Wonderful Life (yes, a tad unseasonal I grant you....)

... and a wonderful time was had by all! Sounds like your weekend has been fabulous - and it's only Saturday! Wouldn't have minded a look at James McAvoy myself. The torch was in Stranraer, just under 30 miles away from us, on Friday but it was very early in the morning and of course, we had school. Shame, tho', as I think Gregor would have liked to have seen it. Glad you've had such a fun time. Hugs, Tracey xx

sounds like you have a busy time...your projects look amazing!! The Olympic torch came to my work Susan with the coca cola lorry...it stayed for a while, now for the life of me I can't remember the famous person who was there(obviously not that famous or pretty or I would remember)but we all got to hold it...my words when it was my turn "oh it's hot and heavy" you can imagine the reaction...yes...red face!!

These are all beautiful, Susan - what a fab job you've made of them! And thanks for the notebook suggestion for teachers.....I've been trying to think of something suitable and that may well be it!

How brilliant to be able to see the Olympic torch - a wonderful experience.

Hi Susan, sounds like you had a fabulous weekend - tho I have to admit to being a cultural philistine here and say that I have no idea who James McAvoy is!

Those look just amazing - really like the notebook idea.

Hope you have a good week.

Oh I love your pictures Susan! :)

Great shot of James McAvoy and the torch. It apparently came through Crianlarich (where I LIVE) yesterday and no one told me. Seemingly there were 5000 people!! There isnt that many people live round here for miles, so they must have all come up on buses! lol :)

Gorgeous card and tag hun, lovely colours too.
