Who Turned the Sun Off?!

Not been as nice today. In fact, I was decidedly chilly when I went out to post my friend's birthday card at lunchtime! Not chilly enough to be wearing a winter jacket though like I saw one woman doing.

Andy is away to the golf range and the children picked going to bed early to watch dvd's rather than going out to play so I am enjoying some peace and quiet. I'm thinking now of pj's and a cuppa and maybe some colouring in.

I was at the Crafty Cabin last night as it's Scott's birthday on Friday and I will need to go shopping tomorrow night as we haven't yet bought him anything! Oops.

So, this is the last card I was commissioned to make last week. I just love the Ladybug Crafts Ink Baby Baby set. Especially this wee cutie.

Creative Craft Challenges

There's a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges today and this fortnight we want you to use the colours Red, White and Blue. Now I really struggled with this. I know I don't really do **** but even that would have been easier. Red white and blue are not colours I would ever put together. So this is my second attempt at a card. I'm slightly happier with this one than I was with the other one but that still isn't ecstatic if you know what I mean!

We're sponsored by Stamping Boutique and Crafty Individuals.

Challenges I'd like to enter:

Sugar Bowl - Free for All

No new products were harmed in the making of this card! Use It Up 2012.

Image - Funkykits, coloured with Promakers, Label is a digi stamp from Stampin Boutique coloured with Copics Sentiment, PI
Cardstock/Paper - From stash
Embellishments - Card Candy, Craftwork Cards
Tools - Stars Embossing Folder,Big Shot

Remember to pop over to Creative Craft Challenges to see the rest of the inspiration from the DT.

Thanks for dropping by today. Have a good Tuesday.

Busy Doing Nothing

What another lovely day, I cannot believe this weather. I spent some time today just sitting in Yvonne's garden. We had gone for our usual Monday morning coffee and when we were on the way home Yvonne asked Sandra and I if we wanted to go and sit in the garden. Sandra had some stuff to do and I had a DT card to finish so we said no. But I came home, finished the card and decided to ignore the ironing and go back round to Yvonne's. Which was lovely.

Then I went to college to help my friend Fiona again. I was her last client for this year for her course and I had a lovely facial. Thanks go to Sandra for collecting the boys from school and looking after them for a wee while before I got back.

And tonight I've been to a Parent Council meeting and have a few things to do for that before I switch off for the night :(

Anyway, on to today's card.....

My friend at work asked me to make a birthday card for his friend. The brief he gave me was the song All The Single Ladies by Beyonce. His friend is getting married next week and her hen night was apparently a "Coyote Ugly" experience where they taught them to get up on a bar and sing! So this was the song of choice. Well, I saw today from a post on Paul's FB page that his friend loved it so I'm pretty chuffed with that :)

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Make It Monday
The Sugar Bowl - Free for All
Crafty Boots - Anything Goes
OLLCB - Make it Girly
Cutie Pie - Die Cuts and Punches

No new products were harmed in the making of this card! Use It Up 2012.

Embellishments - From Cass' stash (ribbon, charm, gems, Glossy Accents on shoes and stickles on her handbag)

Thanks for dropping by today. I'm off to read some more of my book :)

Do you ever....

get up to get something and then sit back down again without having got it?!

Well, I got up to get a pen and a bit of paper and now I've sat back down again without either.

Had a few commissions last week which I'll share through the week with you but this is one of them. I was asked for a thank you card for a Bob Dylan fan....  I was a bit stumped till I remembered Hippie Chick and this Boho Chic paper.

I had forgotten how much I loved Hippie Chick so I might be making another card with her very soon!

Challenges I'd like to enter:

The Sugar Bowl - Free for All
Flourishes - Flowers
Crafts and Me - Fabulous Flowers
Dies to Die For - Anything Goes with a Die Cut

Image - Hippie Chick, Funky Kits, coloured with Copics Sentiment, Stampin Up
Cardstock - From stash
Paper - Boho Chic
Embellishments - Flowers and Pearls from stash
Tools - Label Nesties, Page Map Nesties, Cuttlebug

Finally, here's a photo of the aftermath of today's rugby festival. After they had finished playing, one of the coaches allowed the boys to soak each other with the water bottles!!! Scott is on the right of the photo, I don't know the wee boy on the left but he seems be having fun too and it was definitely a good way to cool off.

Thanks for dropping by today. Hugs. Susan xxx

Share it on Sunday

Wow, Sunday again. And here I am, a bit later on normal to Share on Sunday with Sugar Nellies.  I give you the wisdom according to Dr Sheldon Cooper! Big Bang Theory is one of my favourite programmes and I adore Sheldon.

And a spot of gratuitious hottie action.... This is Bradley Cooper.

We've had a lovely day today. Scott was playing rugby today at Cumbernauld and we took the opportunity of visiting with friends who stay just across the road from the Cumbernauld rugby club. We haven't seen them in a very long time. Fiona was my bridesmaid and it really has been far too long since we saw them. The boys had a great time playing with their daughter Ciara and her friends. Nathan, their son is in first year and didn't want to play with the youngsters lol!!

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely day whatever you've been doing.

New Challenge at Sweet Stampin'

Morning!

I've scheduled this post as I am going to be away all day with the Anchor Boys at Kelburn Country Park near Largs. We went this time last year and it poured down the whole day, it was miserable. It's not shaping up to be like that so hopefully it will be a better day.

So, it's Saturday and that means its time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin'. This week it's the turn of Team Abi to bring you the inspiration this week and there are some super cards over there. This week the challenge is

Moon and Stars

We are sponsored this week by Bugaboo who are offering 7 digis to the winner and our monthly sponsor is Joanna Sheen who are offering a £10 voucher to the monthly winner.

What are you waiting for... pop over to Sweet Stampin and see the starry inspiration the Sweeties have left for you.

Whatever you're doing hope the sun is shining and you have a good day.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Happy Birthday Dad.

26th May is always a day tinged with sadness for me as it's my Dad's birthday. He would have been 87 today. I'm not entirely sure he would have liked BSC but I like the song so here it is. I shall be raising a glass or two of something to my Dad later.

A Long Time in the Making

Well, it's been a while since I did any scrap-booking but I finally finished this layout.... I started it at the Tartan Stampers Mini Convention last September and only just got round to finishing it a couple of weeks ago.

The layout was designed by Fiona and she had used it to showcase a beautiful photo of her and her hubby. The trouble with starting something and leaving it is that it never quite works out the way you had planned! However, I'm kinda happy with this layout of Scott and his friend Sam which was taken a few summers ago (possibly the one just before they started school) in Pollok Park when we went on a wee adventure after nursery one day.

No new products were harmed in the making of this layout! Use It Up 2012.

Toasty Tuesday

Wow, the sun is shining. It has been shining for the past few days. This *may* be it....until winter sets in next week.

I would quite like to go and sit in the garden with my Kindle but it's full of pesky children (the garden, not the Kindle) so I shall just finish this, make myself a cup of tea and chase them into some other garden...

This is the birthday card I made for the lovely Fi.  We have a birthday list going over at Sweet Stampin' and as the card was for Fi I attempted some doodling again as I know how much she likes it. Maybe next time I try it it won't just be lines....

It's that time of the week again over at Sugar Nellie it is time to Share it on Sunday.

I rediscovered Garfield and Snoopy the other week so I thought I'd share some of Garfield's wisdom today. Now, I picked these pictures just after the football so it kinda tells you what mood I was in...

And it wouldn't be SoS without a hottie so here's today's offering. This is Ryan   Reynolds. No, I've no idea who he is either...

We're sponsored by Meljen's Designs this week who are offering the lucky winner their choice of four digital images.

And this is what I've done. I've used a Saturated Canary image called Hand Me Downs and in keeping with her name everything about her card has been handed down to her cos I've used lots of leftovers ;) However I have also noticed that I didn't quite pop out all the little bits from the oval frame. Hey ho!

The Dambusters

On the night of 16th/17th May 1943 19 specially modified Avro Lancaster bombers of 617 Squadron under the command of Wing Commander Guy Gibson  took off from RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire to carry out Operation Chastise. The attack on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams in the Ruhr Valley in Germany would make history and lead to the Squadron being known as the Dambusters.

Of the 19 Lancasters that left Scampton, only 9 returned - but the success of the mission was a turning point in the war.

I thought I'd share today a couple of photos from last year's holiday in Lincolnshire.

These are photos of the Dam's Memorial in Woodhall Spa. Being the Dams enthusiast he was my Dad was actually at the unveiling of this memorial a number of years ago and it was an emotional visit to the memorial that day for me.

Where did that year go?

Tonight was the last Wednesday night of the session for Anchor Boys - that's us off till September.  We have our display on Saturday morning and then the following Saturday a trip to Kelburn Country Park near Largs. We are hoping and praying for better weather than last year as it poured down the whole day last year. The only folk who were at Kelburn were 3 organised trips, every other sensible person was in their houses warm and dry!!

I have so many photos of cards and scrapbook pages saved on my desktop that I want to share with you so I had better start. I couldn't decide what I was going to share today but then I decided what better card than my friend Yvonne's birthday card as it's today :)

I was inspired to make this when I was visiting my teamie Alison's blog. Alison had done a card with Party Hardy so I decided that was the way to go for Yvonne's card. I love Party Hardy with her tongue sticking out. She looks just like me when I'm concentrating!

Sorry

For being MiA since Friday!

I've been in bed with a tummy bug which I think Scott generously passed to me. I am taking things easy this morning cos I will be going to college later to help a friend with her gel nails assessment - I am slowly getting used to having long nails. Don't think I want to go and help next week and get them taken off!!

So, I've missed a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' where this week the challenge is Flower Power.

And today saw the launch of a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges where the new challenge this fortnight is Distressing.

Going to spend some time catching up with blogs now, might come back later with something to share.

I'm All Out of Titles

Morning.  Hope you're all well this Monday morning. Nice long lie in this morning as no one was getting up for school :)

The boys are off to a party in a wee while so I'm hoping to leave a list of jobs for Andy to do while we're away..

The challenge at the Sugar Bowl this fortnight is to use your favourite stamp and over on the SN FB page Karen asked what our favourite stamps were. I went for Pippi or Rosie or Luv A Latte or Pillow Talk or, or, or... I just couldn't choose. One will be upset if I choose another over her. So, I went for #1 Fan, now the girls can't get upset ;)

I coloured this to go with last week's FB colour challenge. I loved the colour combo (cos there's no pink in it!). This week's is just as lovely but I'm not sure I've any paper to go with it but you never know in amongst all that stash.

Challenges I'd like to enter:

The Sugar Bowl - Sketch and optional theme of favourite stamp (I've used a boy so the girls don't fight...)
Saturated Canary - Happy Birthday
Come and Get It - Let's Hear it For The Boys
2 Sisters - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Boys
Crafts and Me - Favourite Colour Combo
Fab N Funky - Male
Simon Says Stamp - Birthday
OLLCB - Make it Manly

Share it on a Sunday

Doesn't Sunday come round quickly...

It's time for Share it on Sunday over at the Sugar Nellie blog and this week I've gone for film and TV.

This first one is in honour of Friday which was Star Wars day.... (May the 4th be with you for the uninitiated). I had been going to do a card specially for the occasion but time just slipped away and it never got done.

These next two are from my favourite programme when I was growing up M*A*S*H. I loved it. Benjamin Franklin (Hawkeye) Pierce was a real hero of mine growing up. And to this day I still love him! I have a couple of Alan Alda books too which are quite funny.

Now this last photo...

Well, Debbi has been sharing hotties over at her blog so I thought I would too.  This is Scott Caan (yes, James' boy) from Hawaii 5-0. There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that the only reason I watch Hawaii 5-0 is to see Danno and McGarrett take their shirts off. No truth at all, no siree Bob ;)

Now remember to pop over to the Sugar Nellie blog to see what everyone else is sharing on a Sunday!

Sweet Stampin Challenge

Woohoo! It's Saturday, it's the weekend, and it's a bank holiday weekend. Now for those of you working Monday to Friday that means that you have a day off and a shorter week. Those of us who work Wednesday to Friday it means zip to, other than our otherwise peaceful Monday is invaded by our nearest and dearest... Only joking if you're reading that nearest and dearest ;)

Anyway, there's a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' today and this time we want to see....

Four Legged Friends

We are sponsored this week by Whimsy Stamps who are offering 5 digi stamps to the winner and our monthly sponsor is Joanna Sheen who are offering £10 to spend in their store!

On to my card and, true to form, I decided to avoid going for the obvious cats and dogs and go for an elephant instead.  Isn't she cute? (even if she is pink).  I made this card for my friends Pauline and Joe when their baby girl (Lumpy) was born at the end of March there. No, her name isn't really Lumpy but if you remember we were trending on Twitter to #ComeOutLumpy. (The baby's real name is Alexa and she is a wee cutie!)

Challenges I'd like to enter:

Creative Inspirations - Animal Antics
Paper Playtime - Anything Goes
Creative Card Crew - Ribbon
Bunny Zoe - Ribbon or Twine
One Stop - Celebrations

Image - Stampasaurus, coloured with Copics. Not sure where sentiment is from
Cardstock/Paper - From stash
Embellishments - all from stash

Don't forget to pop over to Sweet Stampin' to see what my fellow Sweeties have been up to!

I'll be back tomorrow with my pinnings from Pinterest this week for Share it on Sunday.
