Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Morning all, it's Saturday and that means it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin'.

This week our theme is
Father's Day/Special Man

Our sponsor this week are Di's Digis and Marianne Designs.

This is (yet) another one of the samples I made for Craft World. It's using a Taylored Expressions stamp. I love this stamp and I would love to get it but there's only so many times I would be able to use it for the boys to give Andy - I did use it in several ways for the demo by using all of it or just bits of it but still ;)

Because I was using the stamp and some chalkboard card I decided to actually make an easel, blackboard card. Although kids today, they have no clue what blackboards are....  I've made a little pointer using a cocktail stick and my chalkboard duster using a bit of Cut and Dry foam!!

Mid Month Inspiration for Christmas at Sweet Stampin'

Morning all.

It's time for a some mid month inspiration for Christmas At Sweet Stampin'

A wee reminder that this month our theme is

Santa's Coming

Our sponsor this month is Iva Nova Chest.

What better way to mark that Santa is on his way but a countdown.... And yes, there are 211 sleeps from today ;)

I used the Sizzix Santa and I've given him some fake snow as his beard and eyebrows and for his hat and coat. The blackboard I used for the countdown is exactly that, it's blackboard card! It's fabulous.

May Flowers

Morning all.

I have been building up a wee stash of Simply Betty stamps recently and have printed some out but haven't got round to colouring most of them.  Although yesterday I decided to have a wee play.  This is for a challenge on the Simply Betty blog which is just to use two colours so I've gone for browns and blues and I echoed that with my choice of paper, cardstock and embellies. This isn't my usual skin combo so I'm not that happy with it. I like the hair and the flowers though!

Yer A Wizard 'Arry

Hello!

OK so the card actually has nothing to do with Harry Potter but the white stag makes me think of Harry's Patronus, and I think you could get a good Harry Potter card out of these dies. However, I can't as this is another one of the sample cards I did for Craft World and I no longer have the dies (apart from the grass one which I bought!)

Tee Time?

Hello!

The boys are off school for the holiday weekend. They were off yesterday too as it was an inservice day (which coincided with polling day). I'd like to think that someone somewhere thought "it would be a good idea to have an inservice day on the same day the schools will be used as polling stations and then the children won't be off for an extra day".... however, I think you and I both know that it's just a happy coincidence!

So to today's card. Another one of my samples for Craft World (still got loads to share). Perfect card for a golf loving bloke (or woman I guess).

Moving Along With the Times Challenge

Morning all.

It's time for a new challenge at Moving Along With the Times.

This week our theme, chosen by Anne, is

Snow Cute

I made a bit of a mess of the challenge and actually made the card for a challenge in two weeks thinking that it was for this week so then I had kind of run out of week (and inspiration) until I remembered some snowy scrapbook pages and I kinda figured the boys would count as Snow Cute.... Getting these pages out of the scrapbooks to take photos piqued my interest in scrapbooking. I really should do some more. These were photos taken in 2009 and I don't think I've got anything more recent of the boys!

The Dambusters

A Lancaster bomber

At 6pm on 16th May 1943, the final briefing began for the men of 617 squadron. Their mission under the command of Wing Commander Guy Gibson was to launch an attack on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams in the Ruhr Valley in Germany. They began taking off from
RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire to carry out Operation codenamed Chastise. The attack would make history and lead to the Squadron being known as the Dambusters.

Of the 19 Lancasters that left Scampton, only 9 returned - but the success of the mission was a turning point in the war.

As a child I well remember the 16th and 17th May in our house as being a time when my Dad became very thoughtful as he wondered what might have been - he had wanted to join the RAF when the war began but was only 14 and apparently my grandfather wouldn't sign papers which would have allowed him to join up.

I have no idea how many times I have seen the Dambusters film but I would wager it's at least 617 times....

An Owl. A Stag and A Bat. Oh. And More Trees.

Hello.

I hope that wherever you are, it's as lovely as it is here. I can't believe it. It's a beautiful day here.

So maybe, just maybe, I should have been showing you a summery card... I'll put it on my to do list ;) but instead I'm showing you a night time card... It's another one of my samples from the demo weekend at Craft World. I warned you there were a lot! This is one that I made while I was demonstrating as I thought the dark blue and the kraft went well together!

Tree Cards... (Well, Actually, There's Only Two)

Hello!

So today I'm sharing another couple of sample cards I made for Craft World's weekend using Taylored Expressions dies and stamps.

This time I've used the Shade Tree Thanks die and the Shade Tree Sentiments set for the first card.

A simple sympathy card for this one - you don't really want fancy for a sympathy card and for this one I just chopped the little bird house off the tree.

Now there was a lady on Saturday who said to her friend "isn't that a lovely card" and her pal said "eh... no"...... I glared at her.  How rude! I'm not saying that everyone has to like the card but I just think it's rude to diss someone's card when they're sitting in front of you.

What do you think? Is it that hideous? I was quite pleased with it, if I'm honest.

Another simple card. I just used a nestie to cut a circle aperture and then I matted that on blue card and added the Shade tree die.

These Boots Were Made for Walking

Hello.

Oh look at me, in again at the coo's tail. It's been a busy old weekend.

This weekend saw Craft World's 10th birthday celebrations and I was delighted to be asked to be one of the team of demonstrators for their Spring Papercraft Event. I met old friends and made some new ones and all in all it was a fabulous couple of days.

I was demonstrating the range of Taylored Expressions dies and stamps that Craft World have recently got in and would you believe I got the task of creating some samples aimed at the males in our lives....

Over the next couple of weeks I'll share the samples with you but this is the first of them using a couple of stamps from the Boys Will Be Boys set.

All items can be purchased from Craft World.

You're singing now aren't you? I know I am!

Here's my card, and do you know I think this might actually make it to be one of my Christmas cards this year. Maybe.

I've used some Taylored Expressions dies - Birch Tree Border and Birch Tree Accessories to create the card and it looked like it needed some snow so I chucked a bit of fake snow at it too!

Bank Holiday Blues

Morning.

Hope you had a good weekend. As it was a Bank Holiday here yesterday we went over to Jurassic Parr a dinosaur themed adventure golf, where two years ago I managed to fall over some rocks and split my head open.... but you'll be pleased to know that we all made it through without incident yesterday!

I love the first May Bank Holiday weekend as it sees the final of the World Snooker Championships. I love snooker and was absolutely delighted last night with Mark Selby and his dramatic comeback to win the world title 17-14 against the defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan. Gripping stuff :D

So, to today's card - my friend was invited to a First Communion and I volunteered to make a card for her (which actually ended up being two cards as there was another wee girl she knew at the same Communion). The other card is very similar to this one so I'm only showing the one.

I tried to be smart and photograph it in my light box but it just didn't go so well! Pesky WoW.
