Moving Along With The Times Challenge

Morning all.

It's time for a new challenge at Moving Along With the Times.

This week our theme is

Sketch

And here is my card. I've gone for something a little different by using this stamp set from Bert and Gert. The card has been claimed by Craig and is now displayed in his room! He loves the Big Bang Theory and is almost becoming Sheldon...... if only I could have got Bazinga on the card too!

Fab-U-Lous

Hello!

Well we survived the athletics the other night! It was fab, an absolutely brilliant night and the atmosphere was incredible. It was made better by a home Gold Medal win for Libby Clegg in the T11/T12 100m - the crowd went wild! The good thing is we get to do it all over again on Friday!

So I was asked to make a card for my friend's daughter for her 11th birthday - and the brief was she likes blues and bling.

As you can see I've gone for a black and white combo (with the teensiest touch of red!).

I've used this cutie from Tiddly Inks and her panda friend. I used this for my friend Sandra's daughter's birthday as she has a hat exactly like this!

I've used a Medium Decorative Swirly Strip from Hobbycutz and I wanted to make it look like flowers on it so I used some wee dotty buttons as the flowers. This is one of these cards which isn't what I started out to do but I like the way it's ended up!

This week our theme is

Take Flight
(birds, balloons, aeroplanes, butterflies)

Our sponsors this week are Crafty Ribbons.

Phew!

It's hot!

I know. It's Glasgow. It's July. I can't believe I said that either!

So the children are out playing and I thought I'd get up to date with comments and scheduling blog posts when I found some cards that I haven't yet blogged so apologies, this one is nearly a year old but it was a wedding card my friend asked me to make for her Brother in Law who was getting married last year. I think this is the last time I used this couple for a wedding card as I discovered that having no image and just going for a classic look was a good look for a wedding card.

Pistols at Dawn

Morning.

You may be wondering about the title of the blog post today. Well, yesterday we spent a very enjoyable day with family in Linlithgow including a water pistol fight in the garden which was a lot of fun!

Today's card is the last teacher's thank you. Definitely. Well, maybe. I can't see any more.

This is the one I made for Scott's teacher (he had two). I've got to say of the two cards I made for Scott's teachers, the other one I made is probably my favourite!

On That Note

Hello again.

Thought I'd come by and share another teacher's thank you card - one more to go after this (I think....) This is a card I made for the music teacher who was retiring at the end of term - she had also been Craig's teacher when he was in Primary 5. She'll be sorely missed at the school. This Digi Stamp Boutique image just seemed to fit the bill perfectly!

Creative Blog Hop

I was asked by the lovely Hazel if I'd like to join in with the Creative Bloggers Hop.  It's a continuous hop every Monday with a host of inspirational bloggers taking part every week. I was really surprised when Hazel asked but I said yes almost immediately! Hazel is the Boss over at MAWTT so she keeps us all in line.
So onto the questions.

1. What am I working on?

I'm working on a wedding card order for my friend. It'll be very unusual but I can't share it until after the wedding which is on 2nd August. I'm also working on some other orders for birthday cards, first day at school cards and also a card I was asked for yesterday to celebrate 30 years of a friendship - isn't that lovely?

2.How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I'm not actually sure how it differs from what other folk do. I love what I do and sometimes I like to think outside the box and do something a little different, especially with Design Team work where I don't always go for the obvious way of looking at the theme.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

Quite simply, I enjoy it.

4. How does your writing/creative process work?

I usually start with an image - whether the card is for a DT submission, an order, or for personal use.  If it's for a DT submission then I will have a theme to think about too - sometimes I manage to fit in cards I'm making in to themes for DT cards which is always a bonus!

Once I've picked the image (and that sometimes is a chore in itself) I'll pick the papers and then colour in the image. Sometimes a card will almost make itself by the way I've thrown the stuff on the table (I don't mean that literally but placed is too exact sometimes!)

Now onto the 3 Wonderful Bloggers I picked to carry the baton next week.

Cass

Cass is one of my very best buddies. We spend every Thursday in her Crafty Cabin and it's fabulous to bounce ideas off each other and see how our creations progress. Her cards (and other creations) are absolutely amazing. And she makes a mean Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie.

Fi

Fi is one of the bosses over at Sweet Stampin' and is a good friend. We have regular meet ups at the SECC in October and March. I dare you to go to her blog and ask her what time we meet ;) (sorry Fi, couldn't resist)

Abi

Abi is the other boss over at Sweet Stampin'. Her blog is entitled An Occasional Genius but let me assure you she is more than just an occasional genius! Abi and I have daily conversations, sometimes about crafting, sometimes not and she's great to bounce ideas off!

So that's my contribution to the Creative Blog Hop and it's now down to these ladies next week!

Thanks for stopping by.

I Can Sing A Rainbow

Gosh this is a late one isn't it?!

How's your weekend been? We've had a busy one - it was my friend's wee girl's birthday party yesterday. It was in the church hall so the boys and I spent Friday evening helping Lynne decorate the hall and yesterday the 3 of us along with another two friends helped out at the party - we had such a great time!

And this is the final card for this year that I made for Lucy! Lynne made her a rainbow cake - 6 layers (yes, I know this image has more but I thought it was appropriate!)

This week our theme is

Your Favourite Stamp

Our sponsors this week are Quixotic Paperie who are offering £10 to the winner.

Now I'm not actually sure that this little Sugar Nellie sweetie is my very favourite but you can't go wrong with one of the original Gorjuss Girls can you.

This is the other card I made for my friend to give her daughter.

Gee. Thanks.

Hello!

I've been left home alone with the boys this weekend as Andy is off to Edinburgh to see his friend who is over on holiday from the US. It seems very quiet (yes, I know he'd normally be at work) but the house seems specially quiet right now.... perhaps I should unlock the door and let the children back in.

Today I'm sharing a couple of thank you cards I was asked to make for the end of term which I realise was ages ago now but hey!!

The first one is using the Mayzyart Hiker image as I was asked for a card with a hillwalking theme and I found a teacher's quote online so I used that with it.

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby......

Morning!

My friend asked me to make a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card for her Mum and Dad who celebrated the event in June.

I used my Cricut to cut out a heart and a shadow in this ruby coloured card - and this is the first time I've used the Stampin Up stone coloured card (can't remember it's name but it's been lying in the stash box for ages unloved but I thought it went really well with the red and the MME paper.

I made a matching box and used a poem I found on the internet for the front.

Brrrrr. It's Freezing,,,,,,

It's not really although it was a little wet yesterday.

My card today is Frozen though ;)

My friend asked me to make cards for her daughter for her 6th birthday which was yesterday and this is the first which I'm sharing today. I've used some Simply Betty images which I've got to be honest, I referred to as the "Frozen Birds" and Cass said she thought that meant chicken and turkey..... I like Olaf the snowman though (and he's the only part of the film I actually liked too!)

Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Morning all, it's Saturday and that means it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin'.

This week our theme is

Christmas in July

Our sponsor this week are My Creative Classroom and Flat Friends.

I've gone for a black and white look for today's card. I did originally stamp the trees in black and was going to glamour dust them then I decided I'd go for stamping in Versamark and using white Embossing Powder. I quite like this, and it was a relatively quick and easy card to do. So would be good for making on 18 December when I decide to make the Christmas cards!

I know what you're expecting. You're expecting a pink fluffy card aren't you?! Oh no, siree Bob! I did giggle a bit at the thought of putting this card forward for the challenge but I checked with the Boss and she and I both decided that we could have fun in the TARDIS with DT....
